Creating the DVD

To create the DVD I used Adobe Encore CS4, Photoshop CS4 and After Effects CS4.
Photoshop and After Effects was used to make the actual menu and graphics...

But I then had to make the footage work as a menu so I used a program called Encore...

Using Encore was a great way to create a complex DVD menu that looked professionally made, although it took time in learning how to use the program because I have never used it before now.

I have now fully applied Sound FX to the titles from the before version which was just a bang when the titles stood still. Link is below....

Finished Titles

I have completed all the titles I will use in the film, and a preview of these will be linked soon. I have also decided to make a change in the story board, after consideration I will take out the 'Hole in road' shot because I was unable to create the effect up to my standards, this was after a experimentation.

Edit on the titles

My initial ideas for the first title was for it to have lots of things happening at once to draw attention, this included explosions happening with the text exploding with it. but when I finished it, it was too complicated and it was had to read the text with what was happening so I have now decided to get rid of all the explosions aspects and cut down on some of the sound effects. After editing that one I will follow the changes all the way through my titles.

Update on the FILM

I have now finished most of the titles which I have been creating in Adobe After Effects and will soon start filming for the Action Trailer which the character sees on TV.

Creating the titles

In order to create some good looking titles I needed to use a number of programs, From After Effects to Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro and Bridge. All these programs have helped me to create my titles....
Making of First Title

Evaluation of using these programs:
I had to learn how to use these programs effectively and well, so I had to look online for tutorials and I did some practise shots first (on front page). After practise shots I got down and started work on the opening titles in which I will put up a preview very soon.
In all I think that the Adobe programs have helped me to create exactly what I was looking to do.

Planning My Film

In order to start Filming i needed to create a Action Plan of what i was going to be doing in order to get this film good. So i started work on a storyboard and produced the first 15 frames and posted them static.

I then wanted to add some notes into the Images so i made an Animatic of the Story Board using Power Point.
Pre My Animatic

Animation Training
We had film editing training from a local film maker who introduced us to iMovie and told us how to edit and work around iMovie. After the training we knew how to cut and split shots, add transistions and effects to the shots. This was very useful becuase we didnt have to work out how to use the program, not only that but it also provided us with advice from an experienced film maker.

180 Degree Preliminary task

Obeying the 180* rule

We decided to do an experiment to test the 180* degree rule to see what it was like and how to creatively capture it. So what me and Andy did was use figurines to make a conversation and obey the 180* so the camera could only stay on the same side of an imaginary line goin through the middle ( you could also see it as switching shoulders between the characters if facing each other).

What have I found from doing this experiment?
I have found that in order to make your shots look normal you have to keep your camera on the side. I will use what I have found in my film if I have a conversation.

General Media Glossary of Terms.

In this piece of work I had to find a magazine and asses it on various attributes. The following attributes are - Audience
- Demographics
- Genre
- Identity
- Ideology
- Industry
- Mise-en-scene
- Realism
- Representation
-Semiotics
The Magazine I will be assessing is '360'. ( The picture above is the actual Magazine I'm assessing)

Audience - The Audience of this magazine is Gamers or Technology geeks. More specifically the magazine is aimed at Xbox 360 console owners who will be looking for all the updates on a Xbox 360. But it is not just aimed at 360 gamers but also people who have a keen eye in Technology and maybe want to see whats on the market and could be potentially buy a Xbox 360 console.

Demographics - The age of the magazine is aimed at anyone who has a interest into Xbox 360. The gender is mainly aimed at Male because of the market of games which although there are Females it is mainly shadowed over by Males.

Genre - The style of the magazine is about Information which leads into advertising products. The form of the magazine is mixed between Informal and formal because it wants to have a serious impact to it but also it want to be fun so that it keeps the reader interested.

Identity - The identity is very recognizable among other Xbox magazines this is because '360' magazine has the same style sheet throughout the magazine covers, not only this but it also follows through to the pages for example when it has a section header it has has the same image behind the text.

Ideology - The writers in the Magazine believe that the future is in technology and that we should all invest time into it then this will lead to a better future.

Industry - The magazines is owned by Imagine Publishing who own 20 magazines including '360' the range of magazines isn't so great but it works in there favor because all of there magazines are about some sort of technology so Digital cameras to Pokemon world. The focus of this company is to make a profit and advertise electronic devises.

Mise-en-Scene - On the front covers they use action shots of games for example in this issue they used a Car from Forza motor sport 3. They use these images to create an exciting effect and will lure a potential customer in to pick it up. Also the colour scheme is based all around green, this is because the Xbox 360's colour scheme is white and green. This is used so that people can easily see it as a Xbox magazine.

Realism - They talk a fair bit about realism mainly because alot of games now are trying to make them become as real as possible with the available technology. e.g. Graphics and Gameplay. and these things are picked up by the writers of the magazine and are reviewed upon those factors.

Representation - The writers of '360' magazine strongly support and will continue to support Xbox 360 for obvious reasons. In the magazine they include things like a PS3 and Wii watch, now this is were they will report on what the competition is doing but if they do something good they will not give them full credit for it.
